Location: Senggigi Beach, Lombok Barat, Lombok Island, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) province, Indonesia
Senggigi Beach is a well know tourism spot at Lombok Island. It's located approximately 12 kilometers (15 minutes) from Mataram, the capital of NTB province, or west side of Lombok Island. Its panorama has equal attractiveness with Kuta Beach, Bali Island. This beach has 13 kilometers long seashore, from Senggigi village (Gunung Sari sub-district) to Pemenang village (Tanjung sub-district). Alongside beach you can see thousands waving palm tree. Its white sand also beautiful, tempting you to just walk and enjoy the panorama. Or if you want such an exciting ride, choose cidomo, a local i.e. house-drawn buggy. Its blue sea with green gradation is harmonious with the beauty of sunset. You can swim, canoeing, or just enjoy the warm sun.
Senggigi deep sea view also beautiful, you can snorkeling and diving freely, enjoying its coral reef. There's also sailing boat offered by local fisherman, tariff per hour Rp 50-100 thousand. And if you want to an exotic souvenir there souvenir shops full of local paintings, handicraft, Lombok traditional weaving clothes, pearl jewelry, etc.
Accommodation, Restaurant, and other facility
If you have adequate budget, you can enjoy beach view at gazebo at the resort or hotels, which blend with sand beach without barrier. For restricted budget, you can choose economic hotel, or local people guest houses. Several hotels are Holiday Inn, the Oberoi, Sheraton Senggigi, Melati Dua Cottage, Pool Villa Club, Senggigi Beach Hotel & Pool Villa Club, Panorama Cottage, etc.
Aside the beach, you can spot many restaurant that offer specific Lombok culinary, especially Ayam Taliwang and Plecing Kangkung. There's also bar, cafeteria, coffee house, Lombok Pottery Shop, Silver & batik Shop, Internet Café - Fancy Art Shop, spa, sport arena (tennis, table tennis, billiard. volley beach, etc).
How to reach Senggigi Beach
There's several alternative:
- From Bali: when arriving at Lembar Port via boat/ship, use minibus that offered there by local driver. More economical if your rent it with other passenger/tourist, because rent price based on one car, not on passenger quantity. Always try to bargain the price, especially if you from abroad. This minibus can directly deliver you to Senggigi beach
- From Jakarta and other major cities, from airport you can rent a taxi to your destination.
- From Ampenan (city central), use Bemo (local transportation) that available from 06.00 AM till 06.30 PM (tariff 3000 rupiahs).
